Pompeian Interior
Ducal Palace of Gubbio
Exhibition Luigi Spina Pompeian Interior Ducal Palace Gubbio curated by Costantino D'Orazio.
A journey inside the homes of Pompeii thanks to the photographic research carried out by Luigi Spina in agreement with the Archaeological Park. The reader, guided by the photographer's eye, has traveled through the nine regions of the Roman city to discover new corners, as well as the variety of mosaic floors, the geometries and colors of the mosaics, the beauty of the wall paintings. The natural element peeps out with bushes, trees, more or less cloudy skies and, in some shots, with the fearsome volcano. Pompeii has always been immortalized in a condition of natural light, an aspect that allows you to look at the Pompeian interiors at all hours of the day, and capturing the passing of the seasons.
I have a very precise memory of certain afternoons spent in Pompeii.
When we arrived, heading to Regio I, at the guard post, that smell of freshly brewed coffee... Just us and the guards.
The pandemic was raging in the world.
On that sidewalk, along Via dell’Abbondanza, us savoring that coffee.
And, a moment later, towards a domus, on the edge of the day, chasing the soft light of the late afternoon of a day of those years without beginning and without end.
I feel on my skin the air of Pompeii soaked in time that is always renewed until the end of time.
Being Pompeii is recognizing one’s own existence
