We had the pleasure of hosting the artist at our Studio’s carpentry workshop for the intervention
of a direct customization on the frames we made for her works destined to dress the exhibition All things laid dormant exhibited at the Triennale Milano from January 31, 2025 to March 3, 2025.
Benedetta Casagrande brings to the Triennale Milano All things laid dormant, a photographic investigation into the relationship between humans and non-humans in the context of an unprecedented ecological crisis. Winner of the eleventh edition of Giovane Fotografia Italiana | Premio Luigi Ghirri, the project is part of the program of the Fotografia Europea festival in Reggio Emilia and arrives at the Triennale thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and the Milanese institution. Curated by Ilaria Campioli and Daniele De Luigi.
Through photography, Casagrande explores the way we relate to other animals and the possibilities of building new forms of intimacy and kinship between species. The work develops as a dialogue, mediated by the ambiguity of the photographic medium itself, which on the one hand allows contact, on the other filters and conditions it. All things laid dormant is a work that intertwines love and mourning, belonging and loss, and that reflects the desire to rediscover a sense of solidarity in the current fragility of the natural world.
