14th International Photography Festival Cortona On the Move
In Cortona until Nov. 3
For the 2024 edition, the festival explored the theme “Body of Evidence” through dozens of exhibitions set up among the buildings in Cortona's historic center, the Fortezza del Girifalco and Station C in Camucia.
The body was celebrated as a place of freedom both in the group exhibition “The Body as a Canvas” and in Niccolò Rastrelli's “They Don't Look Like Me” exhibition (where the Cosplayer is portrayed) conceived and realized in partnership with Autolinee Toscane;
also enhancing the aspect of resilience with the exhibitions “Chronicles of Water - Images from Northern Italy, in partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia,” and “From the Ashes, I Rose من الرماد نهضت - A Journey to the Hospital of Doctors Without Borders in Jordan” by - Rehab Eldalil, in partnership with Doctors Without Borders;
continuing with the narrative of the body in the exhibition “Sexual Fantasies” by Myriam Boulos, touching on the theme of social and political battles that put the body at the center through the exhibitions “The Last Safe Abortion” by Carmen Winant and “American Mirror” by Philip Montgomery;
landing on the unprecedented photographic journey of the exhibition “Heavenly Bodies,” which drew on the archives of the Alinari Foundation for Photography, to the group exhibition “This Is the End,” dedicated to death, where we explore how death has been approached by all types of photography for the purpose of documentation or celebration.
Heartfelt thanks go to all the staff of the ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association.
